Hold Mock Interviews with local students to support their future applications and give an insight into the real world of work.

What is a Mock Interview?

An educator will invite you into their school to hold practice interviews for their students, which are an emulation of a job interview used for training purposes. The exercise usually resembles a real interview as closely as possible, for the purpose of providing a learning experience for students.

How should I prepare?

Aim to give the young people a realistic interview experience, drawing on the kinds of questions that you would ask a real candidate, but adjusting for their age and level of knowledge.

It’s important to speak with the teacher organising the event to make sure you understand their objectives, as well as the logistics of the event. Depending on the class size, the students may meet with you one-to-one or in small groups within the same classroom or auditorium. The mock interviews can range in the length of time depending on the group size.

What is the impact of a Mock Interview?

Practice interviews are a fantastic chance for students to experience what a real interview would be like, in terms of format and questions, and provide them with an opportunity to practice their answers. They help students to learn how to answer difficult questions, develop interview strategies, improve their communication skills, and reduce stress before an actual job interview.
