Tech entrepreneur Sherry Coutu CBE meets with the North East Local Enterprise Partnership and business influencers to discuss scaling companies in the region

6th December, Newcastle, England. Tech entrepreneur and investor Sherry Coutu CBE met with NELEP and local business leaders to discuss the agenda of the Scale Up Institute, a not-for-profit helping businesses scale their operations, and Founders4Schools, a tech platform tackling the UK skills gap by connecting young people with local business leaders.

The NELEP provider network embodies an entrepreneurial mindset and a growth culture; there is a strong commitment to addressing the Scale-Up gap and the Skills gap, both of which impact the future growth of the UK.

Sherry revealed insights found in ScaleUP Institute’s 2016 review, released this week, and also addressed the importance of local business leaders sharing insights on how to grow and scale their companies.

There was a clear appetite for learning about how business leaders can work collaboratively with teachers to address the skills gap. Founders4Schools presented on the impact that Scale Ups can have not only on local businesses but also on employment opportunities for young people in the region.

In attendance were local educators and business influencers including Professor Roy Sandbach, Director of the National Innovation Centre for Ageing, David Clouston, CEO of Clouston Group and Charlotte Windebanks, CEO of First Face to Face (UK Masserati 100 young entrepreneurs). Among all present there was clear commitment to address opportunities and an there was an enthusiastic response to the call to action.
