Tech entrepreneur Sherry Coutu CBE meets business leaders and academics at Teesside University to discuss accelerating business growth and job creation in the region

6th December, Newcastle, England. Tech entrepreneur and investor Sherry Coutu CBE met with a number of influential business leaders and academics to discuss the challenges of scaling businesses on the region and in turn increasing youth employability.

Attending the event were representatives from Enterprise & Business Engagement, CBI, Entrepreneurs' Forum, Teesside University and the Bank of England.

At the heart of discussions was the role Teesside University and the Tees Valley community can play regarding economic growth in the region. The conversation built upon the findings of the ScaleUP Institute’s 2016 review, released this week, which revealed that the Tees Valley community have increased their ‘scale up stock’ at more than twice the national rate.

Notable from the event was the clear commitment from everyone present to address both the scale up and skills gaps. Professor Jane Turner and Teesside University were recognised in particular for trailblazing this effort.
