Held during British Science Week, F4S partnered with The Ogden Trust to deliver ‘Physics in the Spotlight’.

The event consisted of a suite of webinars in which students heard from role models who have chosen careers in different sectors but all with a focus on physics. The aim of the event was for the young people to be inspired so that they would seriously consider pursuing physics in further education and as a career.

Each session hosted a variety of different panel speakers who discussed their career journey and highlighted to students what they can accomplish with a career in physics.

Students were introduced to careers in the space industry, the healthcare sector, and various careers in sustainability. You can catch all the sessions on our YouTube channel

Research shows there is a great need for these types of webinars; the IOP reports that often young people are put off by misconceptions about what physics is (IOP LimitLess, Oct 2021). By holding an online webinar series which is accessible across the UK, we provide an easy, flexible and free way to break down barriers and allow young people to engage directly with real-life physics role models.
