With a UK job market that has hit under-25s harder than any other age group throughout the pandemic, there is a pressing need to equip young people with knowledge, signposting and skills for them to secure meaningful employment.

In addition to prospective employers from a breadth of industries, including BT, Maritime UK and the NHS, the Careers Jam will be also attended by universities and further education colleges to support students at a time when they are making crucial subject choices.

Virtual booths will allow attendees to engage directly with exhibitors much as if they were at a traditional careers fair, where they can explore advertised opportunities or understand more about how to pursue a career at the company, and the Live Zone will host a series of interactive panel discussions throughout the day to showcase some of the UK’s fastest growing sectors and the opportunities in early careers.

Claire Valoti, VP of International Business at Snap Inc said: I think it’s fair to say that the pandemic at a bare minimum is impacting the career prospects of many people. At the Careers Jam, there’ll be lots of ways that we’re supporting young people to increase their chances with their career prospects in today’s world. I think we all have a responsibility to help this next generation in what right now is quite a testing time for everyone.

The Careers Jam is proudly supported by Innovate UK who are leading the way in supporting businesses to develop and realise the potential of new ideas; and global leaders in advancing sustainable energy, Hitachi ABB Power Grids.

Laurena Robinson, Director of Partnerships at the award winning charity said: ‘F4S are committed to supporting young people across the UK without exception to gain the inspiration, confidence and skills they deserve to have every chance of building a thriving career. The past year has been particularly challenging for under 24s, so the Careers Jam aims to inspire informed choices and interest in economic areas of growth such as cyber security and sustainability. On a practical level, attendees will benefit from joining practical skills workshops delivered by Google Digital Garage, and learn about different pathways such as apprenticeships, T Levels and Graduate Schemes’.
