What is Mentoring?

Mentoring involves teachers inviting you to meet with and encourage small groups of students. You’ll be introduced to a small mentor group and given the chance to answer questions, discuss routes to employment, and share guidance.

How should I prepare?

You don’t need to prepare a presentation or any activities. Instead, we recommend speaking from the heart about your own career journey and sharing practical advice that will help young people enter the world of work. If you speak to the teacher organising the event, they will be able to give you more information regarding the number of students present, their age, and what the teacher hopes they will get out of the event.

The format of the mentoring is flexible it could be a speed mentoring event, a one-off in-depth session with students, or a longer term arrangement so please discuss the format and your availability with the teacher to ensure you are right for the role.
